The ideal candidate will own end-to-end movement of international freight into North America – from negotiating rates to ensuring flawless documentation, customs clearance, and timely delivery for our customers.
HOW YOU WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE:
- Flawless communication with all parties in our supply chains.
- Negotiate freight rates, freight requirements, and scheduling carriers throughout North America, as well as overseas.
- Prepare accurate documentation to support the movement of containers.
- Coordinate necessary action plans with the appropriate departments.
- Understanding transportation and industry market conditions throughout the world and communicating issues that could impact operations.
- Maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Responsible for the timely, accurate and appropriate escalation of issues.
- Arranging custom clearance, distribution and invoicing for third party clients.
QUALIFICATIONS THAT ARE IMPORTANT TO US:
- At least three years of freight forwarding experience comprising of the following:
– FCL and LCL import and export ocean freight.
– Air import and export.
– US Domestic trucking experience. - Ability to complete documentation accurately, including, but not limited to: BL, HBL, AWB, PL, COA, COO, DGD
- At least two years of international and cross border customs clearance
- Deep understanding of various filing such as, AES filing (export) and ISF filing (import)
- Canadian (B3) and American (CBP3461) clearance documentation understanding
- At least one year of dispatching experience with drayage (container freight) in all markets including USEC, USWC, PNW, and GULF; Over the road FTL and LTL
- Accurately prepare DOT, DGD, IATA documentation
- Tracking and tracing vessels, airlines, rail, as well as terminals for cargo availability
- Accounting knowledge in terms of payables/receivables etc.
- Gathering and negotiating rates for sales of ocean freight, airfreight, drayage, OTR, warehousing and storage, and accessorials.
- A university degree or college certificate specializing in logistics or supply chain management is an advantage, but not a necessity.

- Shipping and receiving, and warehousing background is required.

- Customer service skills.
- Experience in the chemical industry will be helpful but not required.
